The additives work on principle of pigment-polymer interface, thus wetting the pigment particles. It has a low melting point and is therefore capable of efficiently wetting pigments before fusion of the polymer carrier. It absorbs onto the pigment surface. 

During processing, the generated shear promotes the grinding and dispersion of the pigment and dispersing agents prevent particles flocculating by various mechanisms (electrostatic effects, steric effects). It can be used in a variety of thermoplastic polymers, including polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, ABS and PVC.
